Warming up with chilli hot chocolate

It’s hard to find new ways to describe hot chocolate. There is really only so much you can say (with the exception of stellar finds). The struggle is real. So since I am roaming abroad (if New Zealand counts as ‘abroad’and staying mostly in one place is ‘roaming’), I have decided to try different types of hot chocolate – suss out what flavour combinations are available.

The first find was in Queenstown on a super cold day. Accompanied by my long time hot chocolate partner in crime, Samantha, we walked down to the waterfront to Patogonia. This was on my ‘must visit’ list, but it was full. Not to be disheartened, we kept strolling and found Koko Black. Now, I have visited Koko Black in Melbourne and was not really that taken with it. So rather than having a standard hot chocolate I ordered a chilli hot chocolate. Often chilli hot chocolate is lightly chilli flavoured, but this hot chocolate really packed a chilli punch. I loved it. The chocolate could have been richer but the chili made up for it. Now to find other flavoured hot chocolates…
